What to establish before troubleshooting
Produced and consumed tags use scheduled controller connections; a successful ping or an online programming connection does not prove that the data relationship is healthy.
Start with the consumer connection status and compare both controller paths, tag scope, names, data types, array dimensions, configured consumers, RPI, and firmware-supported behavior before changing network settings.
Abbreviated worked example
Example: consumed UDT stops updating after a producer edit
Two controllers remain online, but the consumed structure is stale after a user-defined data type was changed in the producing project.
- 1Capture the consumer connection status and both tag definitions.
- 2Compare every UDT member, order, type, and array dimension before rebuilding the offline connection.
Result: The mismatch is proven at the data contract instead of being misdiagnosed as an Ethernet outage.
Caution: Produced and consumed definitions normally require offline work and a controlled download; preserve the running projects and approved rollback first.
