What to establish before troubleshooting
A terminal can boot normally while the runtime application, communication shortcut, target address, firmware compatibility, or controller path is wrong.
Preserve the existing MER, terminal settings, network configuration, firmware, and recoverability status before transferring or restoring anything.
Differentiate an application archive, a runtime file, and a terminal system backup; they serve different recovery purposes.

A restored PanelView Plus application opens, yet every controller value is unavailable.
- 1Confirm terminal IP, subnet, runtime revision, MER identity, and controller shortcut.
- 2Compare the design-time and runtime communication paths and target controller identity.
- 3Correct the shortcut or target path, recreate or transfer the reviewed runtime if required, and validate every critical display and command.
Result: The communication path is repaired without overwriting the only recoverable terminal image.
Caution: A runtime file may not be convertible back into an editable project; preserve every available source and backup before replacement.
